Bootstrap carousel

Bootstrap carousel

Recently I found that twitter bootstrap carousel transition is not properly working in IE as it does with Chrome or Firefox.  This issue is related to Bootstrap version 2.0 and I saw somewhere that it has mentioned carousel is not working with IE9 but I needed to fix it for my client’s web site. When I check the git repository of bootstrap for this I found several commits made saying it has been fixed. I was using v2.0.2 and probably the latest version of bootstrap may have the final fix. Since I couldn’t update bootstrap as it was used in the project in many places as it was already in production, I had had to grab the parts which are committed as fixes for this issue. Though there are few commits made saying it is fixed and after trying several of those, I found only one which works.

This is the link to commit made for that. https://github.com/twitter/bootstrap/pull/3052/files

What I did was I  replaced slide:  function in bootstrap.js completely with the same function given in this link.  https://github.com/Barryvdh/bootstrap/blob/a9d23a2adcfea11be1bc5011e7d4b5c46b812e0a/js/bootstrap-carousel.js (If this link is not accessible please check the update below)

I also did the necessary change given in above commit for the CSS file in bootstrap.css

Then the sliding animation started working for all browsers.

Update 2014-09-25

I noticed that https://github.com/Barryvdh/bootstrap/blob/a9d23a2adcfea11be1bc5011e7d4b5c46b812e0a/js/bootstrap-carousel.js file is no longer accessible. So I checked my old repository to find the replacement I made. I wanted to post here since I still see many of the site visitors are desperately looking the solution for this issue, and I thought bootstrap has fixed this issue long time ago. Please note that the change I made that time may not be applicable as it is with current bootstrap version. But if you’re still looking for it you can find the change I made below. Still you can access the commit (https://github.com/twitter/bootstrap/pull/3052/files) and see the changes. I will place the change I made as in second link (which is not not accessible)

I completely commented (removed the original slide function)

Then added the new slide function.

Hope this will help if you find that link is not accessible.
